Travel grants for artists. ”AMA offers travel funds to artists, arts professionals and cultural operators living and working in Africa to travel within the African continent in order to engage in the exchange of information, the enhancement of skills, the development of informal networks, and the pursuit of cooperation.”

 


DOEN Foundation

”The international culture program enhances the sustainability of creativity and cultural expression in some specific regions in Africa, where the cultural sector has not reached a mature cycle of development yet. DOEN currently focuses on Kenya, Uganda, Mali, Senegal and North Africa.”

 

Heinrich Böll Foundation

The Heinrich Böll Foundation is part of the Green political movement that has developed worldwide as a response to the traditional politics of socialism, liberalism, and conservatism. Hivos, People unlimited

Expression and Engagement Programme: The objective of the Expression & Engagement programme is to expand the space for free expression and freedom of speech and to strengthen citizen engagement. Hivos sees these as essential ingredients for an open, democratic and pluralistic society. Key focal areas: alternative and independent media, cultural networks, cultural productions, cultural spaces and festivals, Internet freedom, Transparency and accountability.

Mimeta, Center for Culture and Development:

Sparkplug Foundation

The Sparkplug Foundation is a family foundation that funds start-up organizations and new projects of established organizations in music, education and community organizing. Supports projects within: grassroot organizing, education and teaching, music.

Pro Helvetica

Pro Helvetia is mandated by the Swiss Confederation to promote artistic creation in Switzerland, contribute to cultural exchange at home, promote the dissemination of Swiss culture abroad and foster cultural outreach.  Swiss Arts Council, liaison offices in Cairo and Johannesburg.

 

The African Arts trust

Grants for: studio/exhibition space, artists exchange, competitions/awards, exhibitions, materials/resources, core funding, travels, workshops, Artists proposals, education etc. Does NOT support individuals, academic research and unsolicited general appeals for the moment.

 

Check also for collaboration with national cultural institutes such as: the Goethe Institute, Alliance Francaise, British Council, Italian Institute of Culture, Spanish Cultural Institutes etc..
